What is the purpose of the Cash Desk Volunteer role?
The Cash Desk Volunteer role supports our charity's efforts to fund approximately £100 million of research into heart and circulatory diseases, helping improve the lives of families affected by these conditions.
How much time do I need to commit as a Cash Desk Volunteer?
We welcome volunteers who can spare a few hours a week or just a couple of hours occasionally, providing flexible volunteering options.
What kind of training will I receive?
You will receive full training to help you feel confident in your role as a volunteer cashier, with support from fellow volunteers and staff throughout your time with us.
Can I volunteer if I am under 16?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept volunteers aged under 16.
Is this a paid position?
No, this is an unpaid voluntary position in a friendly charity shop.
What are some typical tasks I would be responsible for?
Typical tasks include engaging with customers, processing sales through the till, answering questions from customers and donors, promoting Gift Aid, and helping with administrative duties around the till area.
Are there any benefits to volunteering with the British Heart Foundation?
Yes, benefits include a 25% discount on donated goods, a 10% discount on new goods, access to free confidential support, training and development opportunities, reasonable travel expenses reimbursement, and volunteer certificates.
Will I receive support if I have any concerns while volunteering?
Yes, you will have unlimited, free, and confidential support through the Retail Trust.

What happens if I have an unspent criminal conviction?
