Responsibilities

  • The Chemistry / Chemical Engineering Intern will be collecting samples from Chemical Operations, running bench-scale experiments, and interpreting data obtained from laboratory analysis, as well as helping with projects such as discovering new separations technology or streamlining production processes.
  • Learn to understand varied and complex manufacturing process steps and the chemical species involved.
  • Read relevant scientific literature for insight into chemical process steps and potential technological improvements.
  • Develop awareness of potential exposures to chemical and physical hazards common in industrial environments and analytical laboratory spaces.
  • Collect samples in an industrial setting, then prepare and submit samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Set up experiments utilizing bench-scale processing or laboratory equipment.
  • Record and interpret collected data and deduce conclusions that are relevant to production applications.
  • Process improvements for the chemical separation and production of Zr and Hf.
  • Detailed process flow mapping of elaborate chemical process steps and their design.
