What responsibilities will I have as an Electrical Engineering Intern at POWER Engineers?
As an intern, you will be involved in all aspects of utility substation design, which includes detailed design of low to extra-high voltage utility substations, creating one-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, sizing/routing of conduits and cables, and substation layout. You may also perform design calculations in accordance with industry standards and assist with QA/QC design checks.
What qualifications are required for this internship?
Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited university, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have an interest in consulting engineering and the electric utility industry, and be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Is there any specific coursework that would be beneficial for this position?
Yes, successful completion of junior-level courses in power systems analysis and/or power system protection is a plus. Additionally, familiarity with design and drafting software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, and Microsoft Excel is beneficial.
