What are the primary responsibilities of the GCSC Community Programming Intern?
The primary responsibilities include supporting the Youth Education through Sports programming series, assisting with city-wide community impact programming for major events, on-site management of youth and community programming, attending planning meetings, assisting with research and outreach, aiding in event logistics, and working hands-on as event operations staff during events.
What is the expected duration of the internship?
The GCSC Community Programming Internship is expected to last from January to May 2025, with an anticipated start date around January 14, 2025.
Is prior experience required for this internship?
While prior experience with youth and event planning is preferred, it is not strictly required.
What are the work hours for the internship?
Interns can work up to 20 hours per week, typically between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, with additional hours expected during events.
What is the compensation for this internship?
Interns will be paid an hourly rate for their time and services, and payments will be provided biweekly to cover expenses incurred.
Will there be any flexibility in scheduling?
Yes, there is flexibility in scheduling; interns should expect to work in-person at least 3 days a week and are also expected to be available for additional hours during events.
What types of events will the intern assist with?
The intern will assist with various events, including the JVA Rock n’ Rumble, AAU Cleveland Open, Greater Cleveland Sports Awards, and the NCAA DI Men’s Basketball 1st & 2nd Rounds, among others.
What kind of training and professional development will be provided?
GCSC offers on-the-job training in various aspects of the sports and entertainment industries, along with a professional development program that includes professional communication, resume building, job search tactics, and networking opportunities.
Is transportation provided for the internship?
No, GCSC does not provide transportation, but they will cover part of the parking cost if an intern chooses to accept a parking spot in an assigned covered garage in Downtown Cleveland.
Who will supervise the internship program?
The Programming and Event Manager will serve as the supervisor for the internship program, but other staff members may also assign and monitor day-to-day activities.
