The role is based in the Osney One Building, Osney Mead, as part of the Bodleian Libraries' Resource Description department.

How long is the Graduate Trainee position?

This is a one-year fixed-term position.

What kind of training will be provided to the trainee?

The trainee will receive a varied programme of practical work alongside regular training sessions that cover key skills, areas of librarianship, talks from staff and external speakers, and visits to other libraries, with comprehensive in-house training provided.

Are there any educational prerequisites to apply for this role?

Yes, the traineeship is intended for new entrants to the sector, and applicants should not have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree related to Librarianship and/or Information Management, nor should they have completed a Library Traineeship.

Candidates should be enthusiastic and motivated, committed to excellent customer service, able to perform routine tasks accurately, willing to learn, effective team players, and possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

This role requires lifting and carrying books as well as pushing trolleys.
