Requirements

  • You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizen, asylee, refugee, or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Qualifications We Desire:
  • Ability to present technical information and effectively collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to work onsite at Sandia in Livermore, CA during the academic year (not just during academic breaks).
  • Experience with laboratory work (PCR, immunoassays)
  • Fundamental programming knowledge (C++, Python, or Matlab)
  • Bioinformatics skills and familiarity with related software tools for analysis of next-generation sequencing, proteomic, and metabolomic data.
  • Communication skills combined with the ability to organize and present scientific results
  • Completion of entry-level courses in biology, chemistry, or physic

  • Cell culture (mostly algal), sample collection and phenotyping
  • DNA, RNA and protein extraction, cDNA libraries prep
  • Molecular assays
  • Synthetic biology
  • Analyzing and presenting experimental data to the team
