  • You will analyze metro energy consumption, develop a consumption model, implement polynomial interpolation in Matlab, and assist with Human-Machine Interface improvements and cross-functional projects.

Requirements

  • You have 5 years' higher education and are a student at a general engineering school looking for an internship lasting no more than 6 months.
  • You have an inquisitive mind and an interest in mathematics and physical calculations.
  • During your training, you will be introduced to in-house tools and you will have a good command of a computer language (Matlab, Python, etc.)
  • You enjoy working in a team and are dynamic and rigorous
  • You are recognised for your ability to communicate, your autonomy and your ability to take the initiative
  • You have a perfect command of French (both written and spoken). A B2 level in English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the internal metro performance simulation tool, used to create metro speed profiles, estimate journey times, intervals between trains, etc.
  • Study the energy consumption of metros:
  • Analysing existing literature on metro energy consumption (engine consumption, energy recovery, etc.)
  • Make an inventory of the solutions developed within Alstom (exploration with the Rolling Stock and Tools teams, etc.)
  • Design and implement a realistic energy consumption model
  • Mathematically analyse the profiles generated by the tool
  • Analyse polynomial interpolation methods (e.g. Lagrange interpolation, etc.)
  • Implement a computer routine (in Matlab) calculating speed and acceleration polynomials along predefined trajectories from points entered manually and/or automatically.
  • Participating in the development of the Human-Machine Interface (enabling the use of the polynomial interpolation routine, improving the display, etc.)
  • Work on other cross-functional continuous improvement topics
