What is the duration of the KIP Spring 2025 internship?
The internship is a 10-week program.
Is this internship paid?
Yes, interns will receive a stipend of either $5,500 for full-time participation or $3,300 for part-time participation.
What type of work will I be doing as a Legislative Research Intern?
You will review bills filed in the Illinois General Assembly, conduct research for articles and reports, file Freedom of Information Act requests, and fact-check research by policy experts.
What qualifications are required to apply for this internship?
You should have or be working toward a bachelor’s or graduate degree focused on political science, government, law, or public policy, along with excellent data analysis and writing skills, experience in reading and analyzing legislation, and proficiency in Excel.
Will there be any professional development opportunities during the internship?
Yes, Stand Together Fellowships will host virtual professional development sessions every Thursday where interns will be mentored by seasoned professionals.
Is there an opportunity to work in person?
Yes, interns have the option to work in the Chicago office in addition to working remotely.
What materials do I need to submit with my application?
You need to submit a cover letter detailing your qualifications and interest in the Illinois Policy Institute, along with a writing sample.
How will the application process work?
Successful candidates will be interviewed by both the non-profit partner organization and Stand Together Fellowships staff.
