Requirements

  • Essential Skills:
  • Strong technical background with a degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy (or similar) (2:1 minimum)
  • Be familiar with at least one engineering alloy system, such as aluminium, magnesium, iron, nickel, titanium, copper, platinum, or lightweight high entropy alloys
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and capable of converting complex data into actions with practical solutions
  • Adaptable, organised, and able to prioritise multiple workstreams
  • Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge or experience of one or more of the following industries: aerospace, automotive, orthopaedics or consumer electronics
  • Willingness to get hands-on with sample analysis in Alloyed’s metallurgical lab(s)
  • Experience with high-level programming languages such as Python and MATLAB
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing methods
  • Knowledge and understanding of metal AM processes
  • A thesis in a relevant field

Responsibilities

  • Development and validation of improved materials models for Alloyed’s computational Alloys-by-Design® software platform
  • Executing all stages of the alloy development process, covering composition design, manufacturing of new alloy materials, conducting test programmes to evaluate material properties, and translating technology to commercial application
  • Development and implementation of processes for various materials used in additive manufacturing (AM)
