What is the One Summer Chicago internship program about?
The One Summer Chicago internship program provides youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with employment and enrichment opportunities during the summer months, allowing them to gain experience in various fields while earning wages that can be used for educational and living expenses.
What are the eligibility requirements for this internship?
Applicants must be 18 years or older, have work permit consent, be a City of Chicago resident, and be current students of City Colleges of Chicago who were or are enrolled in Spring 2025, Summer 2025, or Fall 2025.
When will the internship program run?
The internship program is scheduled to start on June 23, 2025, and end on August 2, 2025. These dates may be subject to change depending on the department or partner organization.
What type of duties will the intern be responsible for?
The intern will assist at the reception desk, help staff with day-to-day functions, provide general office support, assist with timekeeping and daily attendance of YDAC leadership members, and help organize community projects among other duties.
Is there a required skill set for applicants?
Yes, applicants should have experience with Microsoft Office programs, excellent oral communication and customer service skills, and demonstrate good interpersonal skills with a positive attitude.
What is the primary objective of the One Summer Chicago internship?
The primary objective is to encourage students to gain experience in their prospective fields, contribute to community policing efforts, and help develop leadership skills among youth while fostering positive interactions with police.
Are there opportunities for project work during the internship?
