How long will the placement last?
This placement will last a maximum of 12 weeks, with volunteering up to 2-3 days each week.
Where will the placement be located?
The work experience location will be the British Red Cross office in London (EC2Y 9AL).
What are the primary tasks involved in this volunteer role?
Typical tasks may include using Canva to produce an internal volunteer handbook, creating an external Zine to promote the project, reviewing and updating training resources, researching statistics, attending monthly steering group meetings, and providing support to other Youth Engagement projects as required.
What skills are required for this position?
We are looking for volunteers who have good verbal and written communication skills, experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint), confidence using digital creation tools such as Canva, the ability to work remotely, independent motivation, and good project management skills.
Is there a bursary scheme available for volunteers?
Yes, the British Red Cross offers a bursary scheme for placement volunteers from low-income households, with eligibility determined through a separate application process.
Can individuals under 18 apply for this role?
Yes, our placement volunteer opportunities are open to people aged 15 or above; however, an individual risk assessment, parental consent, and safeguarding considerations will be required for those aged 15 to 17.
Are there any travel expenses covered for volunteers?
Yes, all British Red Cross volunteers are entitled to out-of-pocket reasonable expenses, including travel expenses for attending training.
