Requirements

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)
  • Available to begin work in May 2025
  • Troubleshooting knowledge and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Computer competencies (MS Office) are essential, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to subsurface interpretation and mapping software such as Petrel, Geographix, Accumap, or GeoScout is considered an asset
  • Exposure to data analytics software is not required but considered favourably (i.e Python, Matlab, R)
  • Previous experience or exposure to oil and gas would be considered an asset, either in the office or in the field
  • Strong demeanor for carrying out all work in a safe, cautious manner while following safe work practices
  • Must be enrolled in a Geoscience Undergraduate Program (i.e. Geology, Geoscience, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, Geological Engineering) at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term
  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities

  • The responsibilities of the position will vary depending on the business unit.
  • Students are assigned projects that fulfill a business need and will be working under the direct supervision of a Geologist.
  • Tasks can include log interpretation, core description, mapping, and data analysis.
