What is the duration of the summer internship?
The appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, which runs from June to August each year.
What are the minimum qualifications for the summer intern position?
As of June of the Program year, the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
What kind of tasks will the summer intern be responsible for?
The summer intern will assist the Engineer-In-Charge or Project Manager in examining bridge project sites, conducting engineering research, and engaging in policy and planning, administration, environmental science, and landscape review.
Are there any preferred skills for this internship?
Yes, preferred skills include knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, civil engineering principles, and qualities such as being energetic, proactive, willing to learn, and able to work in a team environment.
Is there any support for student loan forgiveness for interns?

Is there a residency requirement for this internship?
Yes, New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. It is advisable to discuss residency requirements with the agency representative during the interview.
