Requirements

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited green building design, engineering, sustainability management, or related Undergraduate program.
  • Demonstrated interest in green building design, engineering, sustainability management, or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite for reports and presentations
  • Computer 3D model creation and development
  • Scripting and coding (e.g. Python or Grasshopper)
  • Knowledge of the building design and construction process
  • Knowledge of third-party green building rating systems (LEED, Passive House, LBC, WELL, Fitwel etc.)
  • Experience with energy, carbon, daylight, and CFD modeling software and analysis
  • Extensive experience with Excel and data analysis
  • Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus

Responsibilities

  • Application of existing technical skills to projects in a professional setting and development of additional relevant technical skills
  • Gain experience in analysis methods & tools, reporting writing, and presentations related to sustainability
  • Develop teamwork skills required to create compelling deliverables and engage with clients and project teams
  • Learn the fundamental principles and tools used for computational design and advanced buildings analytics
  • Manage a variety of specific tasks with oversight from several project managers
  • Support sustainability strategy development and certification efforts (e.g. LEED, WELL, Fitwel, NZE)
  • Assist with renewable energy analysis and carbon-neutral building assessments
  • Develop strategic and technical recommendations for projects that is thoughtful, creative, practical, and effective
  • Facilitate conversations between multiple stakeholders to devise sustainability strategies
  • Produce high-quality, visually compelling presentations and deliverables
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
