Responsibilities

  • As a Trainee Clinical Photographer you will provide support to the Department of Clinical Photography & Illustration (DCPI).
  • Contributing to the delivery of a day-to-day operational cost effective and efficient service including clinical photography, non-clinical photography, video and illustration (graphic design), to the Trust and other allied agencies.
  • The Trainee Clinical Photographer supports all clinical specialities including Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, Oral Surgery, ENT and Paediatrics (including sudden infant death and non-accidental injury), taking photographs in the studio, operating theatres, mortuary, outpatient clinics and on the wards.
  • Illustration (graphic design) and video have now become a major part of the DCPI’s remit, and the Clinical Photographer will be expected to fully participate in this work using industry standard software e.g. Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • To support the department in the delivery of a comprehensive and professional Clinical Photography and Illustration service.
  • Training in-house will be provided in all aspects which the photographer is not fully conversant with.
  • Responsibilities include participating in the delivery of a comprehensive clinical photography service to all specialties using standard operating procedures, adapted from the Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI) National Guidelines and ensuring ethical practices are followed.
