What is the duration of the internship?
The internship lasts for one year, starting from Summer 2025 and concluding in Spring 2026.
What are the roles available for interns?
Interns can apply for one of three roles: Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or Data Engineer.
What are the minimum qualifications for applicants?
Applicants must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, with an expected graduation no earlier than Spring 2026, studying Computer Science or a related field. They should have experience in Java or Python, a passion for problem-solving, attention to detail, and experience with cloud technologies.
Is previous technical experience required?
While previous technical experience is a bonus qualification, it is not explicitly required for all roles.
How many hours per week will interns work?
Interns will work 40 hours per week during the Summer 2025 and then shift to about 16 hours per week during Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.
Where will the internship take place?
The internship will be based in CME's Chicago office during the summer and will transition to a remote role during the fall and spring semesters.

What does the summer program include?
The summer program includes networking opportunities, excursions to enjoy Chicago traditions, trading and coding challenges, lunch and learn speaker series, and other professional development activities.
What technologies will interns have the opportunity to work with?
Interns will have the opportunity to work with technologies such as automation, CI/CD, DevOps, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Hadoop, Spark, Beam, and various GCP data services.
