Responsibilities

  • Provide the first point of contact between patient and surgery
  • Book new and return appointments by telephone or face to face as appropriate
  • Record patient’s arrival for appointment
  • Record requests for prescriptions
  • Produce prescriptions in accordance with practice protocol
  • Undertake electronic filing of correspondence in patient’s record
  • Deal with queries from patients, health professionals and pharmacists with support from GPs as required
  • Record requests for urgent appointments with the triage/duty Doctor in accordance with practice protocol
  • Record requests for home visits with the triage/duty Doctor and prepare summaries for these
  • Issue appropriate paperwork to patients wishing to register with the practice in accordance with practice protocol
  • Photocopy documents and send faxes as required
  • Log outgoing mail in accordance with practice protocol
  • Provide admin support in relation to practice recall systems.
