Responsibilities

  • To develop and provide short term Art Therapy for people within Cumbria Villa including assessment, treatment and evaluation of group and individual work.
  • Undertake the supervision of students and staff.
  • Undertake Arts Therapy/psychotherapy research/audit as per the Trust research strategy for the Arts Therapies/psychotherapies.
  • To undertake delegated management responsibilities when needed.
  • To assess patients referred to the services in relation to developing an appropriate treatment plan, considering risk factors, complexity of presentation, patient need, and service priorities.
  • To deliver Art Therapy for patients using evidence-based approaches.
  • To develop a high level treatment offer relevant to people with a range of mental health conditions including schizophrenia, mood disorders and personality disorder/complex emotional needs.
  • To contribute specialist knowledge of Art Therapy to the overall treatment of each patient through contribution to clinical meetings.
  • To contribute to the development of the arts therapies research by facilitating placements for arts therapy students.
  • To be a self-directed practitioner, with effective time management skills, able to manage varied caseload demands around regular duties such as case reviews and group work, and to balance the roles of clinician and supervisor.
  • To actively participate in reviews of the treatment timetable, advising about clinical needs and providing evaluations of the effectiveness of treatment sessions.
