Requirements

  • Demonstrate organisational skills and be able to work as part of a cross-departmental team to develop systems and processes for the benefit of both services
  • Show an ability to work on their own initiative and prioritise their work effectively, as well as take direction from senior, experienced and qualified colleagues
  • Be a communicator, able to liaise with a range of internal stakeholders and external sources of public records
  • Manual handling of documents and containers will be required
  • Candidates will need to demonstrate their ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the role, both to the role's work base at The Keep, and to the Records Centre at Alder Close, Eastbourne

Responsibilities

  • - Ensure the timely appraisal and transfer of records from the East Sussex Record Centre in Eastbourne to The Keep
  • - Contribute to other archival projects as they arise
  • - Work within and suggest improvements to agreed processes for document appraisal and transfer to the Archive
  • - Ensure the timely accession of statutory Public Records
  • - Accession and cataloguing records transferred into the Archive at The Keep from the Records Centre under the guidance of the Archivists
