What is the primary responsibility of the Assistant Psychologist position?
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Psychologist is to work independently and collaboratively within the Adolescent Multi-Agency Specialist Service (AMASS), providing specialist, intensive outreach services to young people aged 10-17 and their families at high risk of becoming looked after.
What qualifications are required for this role?
Applicants should have relevant experience and qualifications in psychology or a related field, along with the ability to work effectively with children and families facing social and mental health challenges.
Is prior experience working with children and families necessary?
Yes, we are looking for an experienced practitioner who has previously worked with children and families, particularly in contexts involving complex social and mental health needs.
What type of approach does the AMASS team utilize?
The AMASS team utilizes a mentalisation-based approach, which helps practitioners understand and support the complex emotional and relational needs of the families they work with.
Will the Assistant Psychologist work alone or as part of a team?
The Assistant Psychologist will work as part of a small, experienced team but will also work independently according to agreed plans developed with the team CAMHS Clinician and/or Social Care manager.
Are there any specific working hours required for this role?
Yes, the role may occasionally require evening work to accommodate the needs of the assertive outreach model.
What is expected regarding record-keeping and data management?
The post holder will be responsible for accurate record-keeping and will take the lead in implementing the team’s service evaluation programme, including data gathering and analytics, under the supervision of the AMASS CAMHS clinician.
