  • Skills and Experience:
  • Degree-level education (BA + relevant experience)
  • Excellent, native-level English language/linguistics skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good written/verbal communication
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ambition and a desire to learn and progress
  • Good Microsoft Office and Internet skills
  • Knowledge of industry computer-aided translation (CAT) tools would be an advantage (although full training would be provided)

Responsibilities

  • Target-only reviewing/adapting/editing a variety of text types from the relevant source languages into various flavours of English
  • Completing any other linguistic tasks as requested
  • Working to a basic target-only review metric of 2000 words per hour for simple languages and 1200 words per hour for complex languages
  • Working to a basic adaptation metric of 3000 words per hour
  • Achieving the specified KPI targets
  • Adhering to the appropriate quality standards for all tasks
  • Building the specialist linguistic knowledge required for certain task areas, and building specialist subject knowledge as appropriate, working towards independent expertise
  • Seeking out opportunities for greater involvement in all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the assigned EN Editing Team and providing support to the Translation Line Manager/Associate Translation Line Manager as appropriate
  • Using the relevant RWS tools & technology to optimum effect and adopting a proactive approach to learning about tools & technology
  • Proactively learning from all linguistic feedback provided and ensuring continuous personal growth
  • Ensuring effective verbal/written communication with other business units, internal team members and freelancers
  • Adhering to the appropriate RWS & Language Delivery England processes and procedures in all instances
  • Making an active contribution to the performance of the EN Editing Team in the first instance and the Language Delivery England department in a wider sense
