Responsibilities

  • Prepaid Insurance Accounting - Perform analysis of CITGO's prepaid insurance which includes reviewing policy terms, invoices and preparing summary worksheets to determine the amortization expense and adjustments entries needed as part of close. Work with the Insurance & Risk department to ensure the completeness of CITGO's prepaid insurance, follow up on existing policies renewals, and identify the need for accruals entries. Ensure that the insurance expense is allocated to the various business units following the annual approved budget. Review the accounting records made by our captive management company and ensure the completeness of these records in CITGO's ERP system. Investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of the company's insurance liabilities using the reserve model provided by the Insurance & Risk department concerning personal, casualty, workman's comp and property loss or damages.
  • General Accounting support - Monitor and manage requests in the General Accounting inbox. Inbox activities may include, creating or posting journal entries, attending to master data maintenance requests (e.g. creating or updating cost centers, GL accounts, internal and statistical orders), processing of transactions, performing account analysis, investigating questions related to insurance, etc. This position will also backup responsibilities of other personnel within General Accounting.
  • Internal Controls - Perform account reconciliations and review transactions within accounts owned by the General Accounting team (e.g. prepaid insurance, Cash Recons etc.) to ensure the transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and identifying corrective actions, as necessary. Assist in preparation or presentation of insurance prepaids in Balance Sheet Review activities. These duties require proper documentation and coordination and collaboration with various personnel across the Company.
  • Other duties as assigned - Perform various duties as assigned. Responsibilities may include supporting internal and external audit requests, performing ad-hoc analysis and reporting as requested by management.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, CITGO Petroleum Corporation is a recognized leader in the refining industry with a well-known brand. We own and operate three large-scale, highly complex petroleum refineries with a total rated crude oil refining capacity of approximately 807,000 bpd, located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Corpus Christi, Texas and Lemont, Illinois. Our refining operations are supported by an extensive distribution network, which provides reliable access to our refined product end-markets. We own 30 active refined product terminals with a total storage capacity of 7.8 million barrels and have equity ownership of an additional 3.5 million barrels of refined product storage capacity through our joint ownership of an additional 8 terminals, spread across 21 states. In addition, we own or have an equity interest in four additional terminals, consisting of approximately 1 million barrels of refined storage capacity, which are currently inactive or only utilized to store feedstocks used in refining operations. We also have access to more than 150 active third-party and related-party terminals through exchange, terminalling and similar arrangements. Our retail network consists of approximately 4,200 independently owned and operated CITGO-branded retail outlets located east of the Rocky Mountains.
