Requirements

  • The successful candidate must currently hold a full-time academic appointment (Status Only) at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and an Active Employee Scientist appointment at Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital.
  • The candidate must not concurrently hold an endowed chair or comparable award.
  • Applicants will be evaluated by an Appointments Committee according to University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital policies.
  • Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity (including but not limited to grants, peer-reviewed publications, program development, collaborations with organizations nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows, teaching) and contributions to the field.
  • Professionalism and contributions to St. Michael’s Hospital and the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Science/Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute (KRCBS/LKSKI) will also be considered.
  • Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a 2-page outline of their proposed academic program during the next 5 years (including research productivity, training activities and academic prominence), and contact information for 3 referees.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized scientist with the ability to lead a world-class research program related to acute care, emergency, or critical care medicine that aligns with the strategic priorities of Unity Health Toronto.
  • Professionalism and contributions to St. Michael’s Hospital and the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Science/Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute (KRCBS/LKSKI) will also be considered.
  • The endowed chair will provide approximately $120,000 year, which will be used to offset the salary support of the incumbent.
  • Any remaining funds may be used to support the academic activities and/or interests of the incumbent, which may include research operations and education events.
