Responsibilities

  • Applicants should be highly competent in serology result validation and will have responsibility for delivering a high-quality routine laboratory diagnostic service managing the technical team & ensuring smooth running of the laboratory.
  • Good knowledge of health & safety processes, automation, communication, team working, and supervisory skills are essential to guide and manage the junior technical staff.
  • You will also play a crucial role in managing our department’s quality systems and maintaining UKAS accreditation.
  • As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to train the next generation of scientists, passing on your knowledge and passion for your discipline.
  • As both biochemistry and serology assays are performed on same platforms, the successful candidate will be expected to work with biochemistry team in harmonisation.
  • The laboratory is covered for 24 hours seven days a week and the successful candidate would be expected to participate in the late/weekend shifts and contribute to the continuity and quality of care for patients in the Trust hospitals.
  • Staff are also expected to work across our six hospital sites when required.
  • In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining and developing the high-quality services our laboratory provides, ensuring our clinical users receive the best service possible.
