Responsibilities

  • POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Listen, understand, and internalize the business’ strategy and goals, becoming an individual who makes tactical decisions supporting their achievement
  • Understand the data landscape as it relates to the aligned business area
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the software and applications serving the aligned business area
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the data lifecycle for the aligned business area and its relationship to the business process and software generators of data
  • Collaborate with business leaders and functional resources to ideate the data-centric components of business solutions
  • Define logical data structures required for those solutions in a way that meets defined and anticipated needs
  • Drive toward holistic underlying data capture to ensure that data asset value is generated, and velocity of subsequent solutions accelerates
  • Collaborate with technology teams, in data architecture, application development and data warehouse development, to ensure that the technology teams internalize the business’ needs and that technical solutions meet the business’ needs
  • Create detailed requirements when required and work with others within the aligned business area to foster effective data-centric requirement creation
  • Work as a subject matter expert for business data within projects ranging from small efforts to major transformations
  • Work alongside analysts and data scientists to understand how the business needs to be analyzed and understood and translate those needs into underlying data design and requirements
  • Create custom focused data assets from approved sources for use by analysts and data scientists in the aligned business area (data marts, assets underlying BI layers and reports)
  • Identifies opportunities to obtain and leverage external data sources to solve business problems
  • Act as a driver of effective collaboration between business and technology teams by taking the role of facilitator and collaborative interpreter
  • Evaluates the results driven by data-centric solutions to ensure that investments in those solutions are yielding benefits.
