What type of projects will the Cable Engineer be involved in?
The Cable Engineer will be involved in projects including HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, overhead lines (OHL), geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, low voltage alternating current (LVAC), front-end engineering design (FEED), new builds, refurbishment works, and connections schemes.
What qualifications are preferred for this position?
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field) from an accredited institution is preferred, along with professional registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and ICE.
What software proficiency is required for this role?
Proficiency in CYMCAP software for cable sizing calculations, as well as proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and AutoCAD or MicroStation is required.
Is there a specific experience required related to transmission and distribution systems?
Yes, experience in the design (concept, FEED, and detailed design) of transmission and distribution systems for utility companies based on international standards is ideal.
Will the Cable Engineer work independently or as part of a team?
