Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, required. Higher education, preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience as a construction administrator or inspector, required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, ordinances, codes and regulations governing operations, required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret contract plans and specifications, required.
  • Have a solid understanding of complex construction means and methods, desired.
  • Must be able to handle basic geometric mathematical calculations involving linear distances, areas, and volumes.
  • Must have good written and communication skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must have reasonable computer skills and be literate in MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel, and ability to use E-Builder.
  • Experience in the observation of asphalt, concrete, earthwork, stormwater and utility installations.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of safety construction practices and OSHA Standards.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of clients, management, and employees.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentially and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately.
  • Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Valid drivers’ license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, read, and review construction plans and specifications.
  • Provide constructability reviews of plans and specifications prior to issuance for construction.
  • Conducts construction site visits to ensure that work is performed according to approved drawings and specifications.
  • Monitors and documents construction activities related to the AVCON portion of the scope.
  • Observes and monitors material field testing required to determine contractor’s compliance with contract specifications.
  • Reviews quantities submitted in request for payment and recommends comments or approval to the EOR.
  • Participates in field/owner meetings as noted in the scope of services and notifies EOR when scope has been met or exceeded.
  • Reviews Shop Drawing for final approval by the EOR or design team.
  • Responds to RFIs based on a solid understanding of the construction plans.
  • Reviews as-built surveys submitted by contractor for accuracy with work performed in the field.
  • Review AVCON produced record drawings to confirm conformance with the as-built survey and agency requirements.
  • Maintain Shop Drawing and RFI logs and track the documents through approval or response.
  • Nights and weekends are generally not required but may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice.
