Responsibilities

  • Exemplify Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, standards and guidelines in the execution of all work
  • Conduct geological handoff of subsurface information and interpretations from both the brownfield and greenfield teams (i.e., core data, logs, and drilling/production information) prior to execution
  • Provide input and recommendations on wireline tools, coring, cased-hole logging, etc. for vertical delineation and observation wells
  • Provide input and recommendations on LWD tools for horizontal drilling (working with the subsurface and petrophysics’ teams)
  • Be the primary point of communication with the drilling team (COSL) and field geologists
  • Organize the ordering and storage of wellsite geological data (vials, iso-jars, core, etc.)
  • Document and organize well logging and geological wellsite data
  • Input finalized well data into Petrel according to internal best practices
  • Work collaboratively with oilsands team members to integrate subsurface data
  • Utilize a continuous improvement mindset to optimize the business and improve project economics
  • Ability to interpret 3D & 4D seismic to communicate interpretations to the field staff
  • Responsible for geological presentations throughout the execution phase of a program including: DWOP, pre-drill, AAR and management presentations
  • May be required to provide information and present to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER)
