Requirements

  • Master educator with an MA in a relevant field (i.e. Music Education) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school music teacher
  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
  • Musical concepts, skills and vocabulary
  • Teaching approaches related to music education
  • Creative lesson, unit and assessment planning and musical materials for the classroom
  • Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Experience as a music/instructor teacher in the Quebec educational system
  • Familiarity with the professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
  • Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Familiarity using MyCourses, ZOOM, and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
  • Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
  • Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
  • Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date

  • Includes the study of music curriculum content and instructional approaches, classroom management issues, lesson planning and program development for elementary and secondary schools.
