Responsibilities

  • To work in partnership with the teams' senior leadership, team members and stakeholders in the delivery of an integrated service that offers active intervention for people with complex bio-psycho-social needs and to their families and carers.
  • To assist in the effective delivery of the team's core functions, and key performance indicators and lead on clinical supervision within the team.
  • To lead the development of protocols, procedures, and systems to integrate practice across the borough-wide service.
  • To work cohesively with senior management to provide a responsive and innovative service delivering high-quality mental health service to the people of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey and provide clinical advice and support to other professions within the mental health care setting and related statutory and non-statutory agencies.
  • To provide professional leadership within HWCT and support the team manager and staff in implementing evidence-based practice and promoting practice-based evidence in psycho-social interventions.
  • Support, appraise and provide formal, ongoing clinical supervision and caseload management supervision to members of the team.
  • To undertake duties designed to extend clinical and managerial expertise as delegated by the manager when required.
  • To ensure the delivery of high-quality needs assessments and risk assessments within a multi-disciplinary framework with service users experiencing mental health difficulties and to provide effective and supportive interventions within the framework of Dialog+, Strengths Based and the Recovery Model.
  • To maintain clear, comprehensive and contemporaneous clinical records on all patients in accordance with professional standards and Trust policies and to write appropriate reports, maintain records and produce correspondence in accordance with the Trust policies on Case Recording and Confidentiality and Data Protection Act.
  • To use and enhance Information Technology skills to directly enter client information on the Trusts electronic databases and where necessary produce reports and correspondence.
  • To provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions using positive and supportive therapeutic relationships to service users and their families and carers.
  • To attend meetings as organised for the effective functioning of HWCT and to Chair such meetings as directed by the team manager.
  • To uphold the Trusts Equal Opportunities policies, to deliver effective and appropriate services fairly and without discrimination and to promote the principles of Diversity.
  • Provide formal, ongoing clinical supervision and caseload management and supervision to staff and students including annual appraisals and documentation to support Trainees and Assessed and Supported Year Social Workers.
  • Support the team manager to ensure the efficient use of human resources ensuring safe levels of staffing, which reflect the necessary and appropriate skill mix across the team as identified by senior managers.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection and interviewing of staff and undertake the induction of new staff.
  • Facilitate service user and carer involvement in the ongoing development and evaluation of the service.
  • To undertake Quality Improvement projects under the guidance of the team manager.
  • Ensure systems are in place to respond promptly, appropriately and in an open manner to complaints and queries and undertake investigations and provide Management Reports in relation to complaints and Serious Incidents.
  • Undertake teaching of qualified and unqualified staff, including students.
  • Develop links with the universities to ensure that students are well supported during their placements and learning objectives are met.
  • Leads on clinical audit within HWCT and undertakes surveys or audits as necessary and participates in clinical trials/R&D activity as required.
  • Promote health and provides specialist advice/education regarding mental health to professionals, service users and the public in general.
  • Receive regular, ongoing clinical and case management supervision; attend staff development training as required.
  • To develop collaborative and positive working relationships with colleagues within HWCT and other statutory and non-statutory partners.
  • To keep up-to-date with changes in Mental Health and Social Care policies and practice developments.
  • To take responsibility to progress one’s own professional development, through supervision and training, which will be supported by the Trusts Performance Appraisal system, and in order to maintain professional registration with the profession’s ruling body.
