Responsibilities

  • Lead on design management in the feasibility and pre-construction in line with health and safety, budget requirements and customer drivers set out in the pre-construction strategy.
  • Ensure that design deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner.
  • Formulate and implement the design strategy to deliver the project and convert into a construction contract.
  • Consider the commercial attractiveness of design strategies and report conclusions early to management within team meeting and monthly reporting meetings.
  • Identify, report and manage significant design risks and opportunities.
  • Meet customers and designers on a regular basis and manage technical and scope queries raised by all parties including 3rd party stakeholders.
  • Take pride in seeing your projects shape the nation’s landscape.
  • Work with customers, design consultants, engineers, construction teams, and other experts to shape designs that our clients want and our society needs.
  • Join at the very beginning to make sure every design is fit for purpose and buildable.
  • Minimise risk and maximise impact by considering every design from every angle.
  • Recommend the best way forward on highly complex proposed builds by visualising how designs will look and work during and after construction.
  • Make big calls on how best to manage the design and build – from influencing who works on it and testing their competency, to coordinating teams as things progress.
