  • Applicants must also possess five years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or one year of specialized experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, such as experience providing scientific leadership as it relates to surveillance, epidemiologic research and program design, execution and evaluation of public health programs, and communicating with various community stakeholders.
  • Typically, experience of this nature is gained at or above the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations.
  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations.
  • Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
  • You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
