Responsibilities

  • Set the vision, direction and culture of their team of People professionals (up to 15-20 professionals in various stages of their careers) by managing individual and team performance expectations and goals, monitoring real-time service levels, and holding their team accountable to meet and exceed performance targets
  • Fosters and maintains strong partnerships with stakeholders throughout the organization utilizing a matrixed shared services model from all of the following structures: Canadian market, North American cluster and Global organization
  • Working with the North American cluster People team and relevant global teams, identify, develop, and implement People strategies and programs to support operational and strategic business needs on a national level, including: employee relations, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, organizational design, compensation and benefits, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, and offboarding
  • Thoughtful ability to develop strategic relationships with your business partners by building trust and influencing business decisions. You can root cause issues quickly and uncover core issues using data, then lean in, consult with, and teach the business how decisions affect the network and/or individual sites, and create new mechanisms, as needed
  • Understand business goals and recommend thoughtful new approaches, policies, and procedures to affect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity, and development of the People team within the company
  • Deliver results in a fast-paced environment with a high volume workload supporting People functions and the business
  • Drive and direct all employee engagement efforts for senior leaders, front line managers and associates
  • Continuously innovate People solutions and process improvements by working closely with Canada People and Culture Managers to ensure standardization and alignment in People practices, approaches (subject to provincial legislation differences) and systems/tools
  • Lead projects at a national level, influence and build buy-in from stakeholders, and then drive execution and achievement of the key results using effective change management and project management skills
  • People and Culture Business Partner for national leaders supporting the organization, including coaching and advising on key areas such as performance management, employee relations, succession planning, and team effectiveness
  • Ensure legislative compliance across Canada, including the Employee Handbook and other policies, health and safety (i.e. training, certifications), hours of work, etc.
  • All other duties, as assigned
