Responsibilities

  • Supports the business teams regarding regulatory environmental compliance and recognised industry best practices.
  • Actively recommends improvements to eliminate, reduce, control, and mitigate environmental risks and emissions.
  • Monitors and reports refinery environmental performance, produces KPIs, and raises any issues with the Business Team Leaders.
  • Manages PLOR CO2 emissions monitoring for UKETS emissions trading scheme.
  • Ensures compliance with EA reporting requirements for quarterly and annual returns, and in the event of any breaches.
  • Engages with the Environment Agency, other Regulatory Bodies and Trade Associations (i.e., Fuels Industry UK).
  • Supports the site’s environmental activities to ensure compliance with the Environmental Management System and ISO 14001 standard.
  • Monitors developments in environmental legislation, regulations, issues, concerns and understanding relevant to the company and maintains the site Legal and Aspect Registers.
  • Provides specialist support to investigations where there has been (or could have been) a breach of environmental compliance with the site’s EPR permit limits and conditions/PLOR rules/recognised good practices.
  • Liaises with all departments on all appropriate environmental matters - including training and competence.
  • Provides environmental support and expertise to process change control requests.
  • Deputy member of the crisis management team.
  • Ensure that all environmental risks are identified, and emissions are managed with appropriate procedures and practices.
