Responsibilities

  • The Environmental Scientist develops environmental outputs through various stages of the project, undertakes coordination and carries out environmental studies while working as part of the project team. Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment as an experienced Engineer/Environmental Scientist/ Environmental Manager. Guides Graduate Engineer/Environmental Scientist and provides reporting input to the specialist leads and works on detailed or routine environmental tasks involving surveys and monitoring. Manages Public Participation/Stakeholder Engagement. Contributes to the development of technical proposals. Develops scientific reporting by gathering, correlating and analysing environmental information and monitoring data using computer software and established procedures and standards. When possible, collects and analyses information from respective discipline and interdisciplinary project leads and external specialist. Fully develops the Environmental report content by applying both survey inputs, inputs from specialist studies and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality output production by following project timelines. Applies legislative knowledge to project triggers. Participates in the interdisciplinary review of project deliverables. Works on detailed or routine environmental assignments involving surveys, specifications, sketches, diagrams, specific discipline models/ inputs, drawings, reports and tender documents. Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes an approach to solving new problems encountered. Performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision—coordinates with other discipline Engineers/ Scientists as applicable for the environmental assessments. Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities, ensuring that the environmental quality of reporting complies with Client and Authority requirements. Coordinates with Authorities for Environmental approvals. Begins to participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc.
