  • We have built a team that covers most major areas of the Dispute Resolution world including: Fraud, Commercial litigation, Banking Disputes, White Collar Crime & Investigations, Tax, Competition and Anti-Trust, International Arbitration, Intellectual Property, Fraud Defence & Business Disputes, Real Estate and Trust Disputes.
  • We are now expanding our Group Actions business and are looking for a Group Action Paralegal who will help our lawyers work up compelling case ideas across several target areas, including Commercial Litigation, Insurance Litigation, Purpose Litigation (ESG), Fraud, and Competition. Key to the success of the role will be the ability to quickly identify viable opportunities, from both a financial and legal perspective.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a paralegal working in a litigation practice, preferably with a Group Actions focus.
  • Interest also in group actions/ collective redress
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • A strong academic record, LPC qualified preferable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Personable and confident, able to build relationships with partners/ key stakeholders.
  • Resilient and calm under pressure.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach.
  • Proactive and takes initiative.
  • Proficiency in legal research software and MS Packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Document Management Systems is an advantage.

  • Legal Research:
  • Perform in-depth legal research into potential group actions using various resources, including legal databases, journals, and case law.
  • Stay abreast of developments in the law that may impact current or future group actions
  • Case development:
  • Conduct preliminary research to identify potential group action claims.
  • Assist in evaluating the merits of prospective cases by analysing legal principles and precedents.
  • Gather and review relevant documents, statutes, and regulations to support case ideas.
  • Help the Group Action advisors with the first assessment of a claim's viability and operational requirements.
  • Prepare case summaries to outline potential group action opportunities and associated risks.
  • Assess the financial viability of each case, identifying the minimum size of group required.
  • Support the development of case proposals for Litigation Funders
  • Consult with Risk & Compliance to ensure proposed case strategy is compliant.
  • Group Actions Board support:
  • Obtain case updates from matter partners who have cases in development.
  • Help develop the agenda and materials for the monthly Group Actions Board.
  • Disseminate follow-up actions and schedule relevant meetings.
  • Help update the monthly case tracker (incl. case updates and risks).
