  • A strategic and commercial qualified lawyer with prior experience in an in-house legal and compliance function (preferably operating within a regulated industry).
  • The ability to work autonomously as the sole lawyer within the business. Experience of the healthcare and/or private health insurance sectors will be an advantage.
  • The ability to provide pro-active and strategic legal and regulatory advice and summarise legal, risk and compliance concepts clearly and concisely to the Company.
  • The ability to engage effectively across the Company and with external providers.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets together with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience of undertaking a CoSec role and the ability to learn about the ASX regulations and requirements. Knowledge and experience of working within a listed company environment will be an advantage
  • The ability to contribute and collaborate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and to work effectively with the Board and key business partners.
  • Someone with high ethical standards who will engender and sustain a relationship of trust with the Board and senior management; confidence to “speak truth to power” and provide independence of thought in appropriate context.

Responsibilities

  • - Attend the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) Meetings
  • - Support the development and delivery of DCA’s strategy
  • - Facilitate the implementation of a commercially sustainable business model and efficient operations
  • - Provide pro-active and strategic legal and regulatory advice to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board
  • - Advise on the full range of legal issues arising within DCA
  • - Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and DCA policies
  • - Procure external legal advice where appropriate
  • - Manage external legal budgets
  • - Perform the role of Company Secretary
  • - Program board meetings and ensure that appropriate papers are provided in a timely way
  • - Support the Chair on regular Board and Committee evaluations
  • - Support the CEO and CFO in ensuring that all compliance and regulatory deadlines are adhered to
  • - Become a subject matter expert on the Australian Stock Exchange listing rules

  • - Lead on drafting the non-financial sections of the annual report
