Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Developing a general understanding of connection agreements to the National Electricity Transmission System and the associated regulatory framework.
  • Advising colleagues within NGET on connection agreements and providing related advice in response to queries.
  • Day-to-day responsibility for supporting the business to produce connection agreements for NGET in accordance with regulatory deadlines, supported by other members of the legal team.
  • Reviewing agreement terms in line with industry codes and negotiating the same.
  • Supporting the NGET customer connections team by attending internal meetings and ‘surgeries’ to respond to contractual queries arising out of connection projects.
  • Drafting template clauses and precedent documents for UK Legal and the NGET teams, supporting the drive to increased automation.
  • Working closely with and sharing know-how with other colleagues within UK Legal.
  • Supporting senior lawyers in the legal team in briefing internal and external stakeholders on connections-related issues.
  • Assisting other members of the legal team to implement industry-wide reforms in the connections space.
  • Liaising with and instructing external legal advisors where necessary.
  • There is the opportunity to broaden your skills and knowledge and support NGET in other legal work carried out by the UK Legal team on a wide variety of commercial arrangements and projects, construction and regulatory matters.
  • Contribute to ad hoc internal projects within UK Legal.
