Responsibilities

  • Supports Corewell Health’s positive team member strategy, including risk assessment and mitigation, issue identification and resolution, and other team member relations initiatives.
  • Coaches, mentors, supervises, and develops Labor Relations team members for both labor relations content and desired competencies. Ensures that priorities are established to meet organizational needs. Supports the implementation of key activities. Ensures responsiveness and an exceptional experience on requests for services, information, records, and data while managing the legality of such releases.
  • Partners with inside and outside legal counsel as necessary on union-related matters.
  • Supports organizational response to union organizing campaigns and election petitions.
  • Develops and provides training to Human Resources and leadership aimed at building internal capabilities on a wide range of labor/union-related subjects.
  • Supports the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Supports the grievance process to ensure contractual rights are upheld.
  • Supports preparation of cases for arbitrations, administrative hearings, and trials.
  • Partners to ensure compliance with federal and state laws regarding employment and labor-related matters.
  • Communicates proactively on labor environment and legislative trends.
  • Works closely with Human Resources and others to develop and maintain partnerships for effective administration of labor relations.
