The primary role of a Leave of Absence Specialist is to advise employees and managers on the organization's leave programs, analyze leave claims, determine employee eligibility, assist with alternate work arrangements, manage employee returns, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
How many days per week is onsite work required for this position?
This position requires working onsite at our Lake Zurich, IL site 3 days per week.
What types of leaves will the specialist manage?
The specialist will manage various types of leaves, including maternity or paternity leave, medical or disability leave, military leave, and unpaid leave.
What educational qualifications are required for this position?
An Associate’s degree is required, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is strongly preferred.
How much experience is required for the Leave of Absence Specialist role?
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in leave of absence processing, employee benefits, and/or human resources is required, or an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Is experience with Workday or other HRIS systems necessary?
Yes, experience with Workday or other cloud-based HRIS systems is highly desirable for this position.
What skills are needed for this role?
Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required, along with effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Will I be involved in resolving leave-related questions or issues?
Yes, the Leave of Absence Specialist will act as a front-line responder to employees’ and HR partners’ leave-related questions or issues, effectively handling issue resolution as needed.
