Requirements

  • We are looking for an individual with a qualification at the undergraduate or postgraduate level relevant to design strategy, design thinking and/or design management.
  • You will bring knowledge of delivering strategic projects in a professional environment and experience in a range of visual communication tools and media and design thinking tools.
  • You will also have comprehensive knowledge of learning and teaching for international students.
  • As an academic, previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level is essential in addition to the experience of research and/or professional practice in creative strategy, design thinking or equivalent design practice.
  • You will be able to cite examples of the design management industry’s future trajectory and engagement with culturally diverse contexts.
  • You should also demonstrate insight into design strategies as they intersect with social justice, the climate emergency and other global social, cultural, environmental, political and economic forces that are transforming the design discipline.
  • The successful candidate should possess effective interpersonal skills and be a student-centred teacher focused on promoting diversity and inclusivity while demonstrating strong communication and organisational skills.
  • We are particularly looking for applicants who are keen to work in a diverse team and who can work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the subject area and share expertise.

Responsibilities

  • As a lecturer, you will be responsible to the Course Leader for the delivery of the design management units on the course with a particular focus on bringing design strategy know-how.
  • You will manage and participate in the delivery of student-centred and inclusive teaching and contribute to course development, assessment, quality management and student recruitment.
