Requirements

  • You have:
  • 2-6 years of professional experience as a lawyer, preferably from a renowned international law firm, the financial sector or the tech industry
  • A keen interest in Fintech and YouLend’s products
  • Working across cross-border transactions desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial transactions and corporate law
  • Expert problem-solving skills and ability to concisely communicate
  • Exposure to a broad range of commercial and technology law issues and experience across a range of commercial contracts and the ability to analyse and identify the core legal issues
  • Adaptability and willingness to roll sleeves up and get involved with all parts of the business is a key requirement
  • Desire for a broad variety of work and willingness to learn rather than focus in a specific area of law
  • A strong drive, bias to action and “get things done fast”-mentality
  • A fast, self-driven learner who can gain rapid familiarity with complex products, solutions and legal frameworks and maintain knowledge of those changing products, solutions and legal frameworks
  • Solutions orientated with excellent time management, planning and organisational skill
  • The following would be useful:
  • Experience in business finance/ fintech / high-growth tech or working in a scale-up business / fintech
  • Working across cross-border transactions
  • Experience in working with other jurisdictions (e.g. the US and other EU countries).

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the legal team and business to find innovative and business friendly solutions, e.g., ensuring swift merchant onboarding, developing legal processes across geographies as well as contributing and driving legal product development
  • Supporting the sales and partnership teams negotiating major partnerships for YouLend, including participating in the RFP / term sheet process and drafting/updating bespoke agreements
  • Supporting the capital markets teams on existing and new capital mandates
  • Supporting the product team on YouLend’s existing products and the development of new products
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements, contracts, amendments and other legal documents
  • Responding to ad hoc legal queries from the business, providing appropriate legal solutions
  • Developing and delivering legal and compliance training across various teams in the organisation
  • Helping to supervise junior members of the legal team
  • Ensuring successful go live with partners
  • Ensuring successful roll-out in new geographies
  • Working with external counsel across jurisdictions to ensure YouLend’s regulatory compliance
  • Providing expert and strategic legal advice to the General Counsel and executive management
