What is the work schedule for the Microbiology Lab Technician position?
The position is on a 1st shift schedule, working from Tuesday through Saturday, with opportunities for overtime.
What qualifications do I need to apply for this position?
An ideal candidate will have an Associates or Bachelors of Science degree or relevant experience working in the food industry with good job tenure.
What types of tasks will I be performing on a daily basis?
Daily tasks include unpacking and weighing food samples, enriching samples with microbiological media, labeling samples, transporting samples to and from incubators, and plating/pipetting samples.
Is previous laboratory experience required?
Previous laboratory experience is not required, as this position is entry-level; however, experience in the food industry is a plus.
What type of laboratory equipment will I be using?
You will operate basic laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, colorimeters, spectrophotometers, autoclaves, and evaporators.
What kind of support can I expect to receive in this role?
You will provide support to the laboratory department by performing and coordinating various laboratory processes and may receive guidance from supervisors for analyses and data interpretations.
