Responsibilities

  • The Design Authority (DA) is an essential part of the HMNB Devonport Nuclear Authorised Site. As a member the DA Nuclear Site Safety Justification Team the Deputy Safety Justification Manager (DSJDM) You will be supporting the Safety Justification Delivery Manager (SJDM) by being responsible for the co-ordination of Nuclear Site Safety Justification (NSSJ) delivery.
  • As part of the Design Authority, the DSJDM will work closely with other DA Team member, Facility Operators and industry partners. As a Safety Case Subject Matter Expert (SME) assess, approve and deliver changes to the Facility Safety Cases (FSCs) and modifications (in accordance with Authorisation Conditions (AC) 20, 21 or 22 to meet the FOs Statement of Requirements.
  • The DSJDM will deliver engineering substantiation in support of FSCs and Modifications in co-operation with the Nuclear Site Services Manager (NSSM).
  • The DSJDM is the lead in the delivery of supplementary Hazard Identification and Hazard Analysis substantiation produced in support of the FSCs, as well as Further Authorisation Condition (FAC) 1.
  • The DSJDM will act as an Intelligent Customer (IC) assure the effective and timely delivery of FSCs and modifications through Naval Base due process and ensure relevant stakeholder comments and advice have been adequately addressed.
  • The DSJDM will Assemble safety case production Learning from Experience (LFE) including safety case related Periodic Review of Safety (PRS) action management, Forward Action Plans, Non-Conformances and other Audit finding.
  • The DSJDM will plan, prepare and review Nuclear Site Safety Justification sponsored nuclear implicated Level 2 Naval Base Business Procedures that assure nuclear safety operations at HMNB(D). Therefore, assuring Design Authority’s overall safety management systems’ continued compliance with AC17 and the Quality Management System Requirements.
  • The DSJDM will provide support to the Nuclear Accident Emergency Arrangements (NAEA) as part of the Nuclear Emergency Response Organisation (NERO) in a duty roster role to be stipulated by Emergency Planning Health Physicist Assistance Head (EPHP AhD).
