Responsibilities

  • - Coordinate occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area.
  • - Provide supervision of students and team members as assigned.
  • - Work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.
  • - Make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • - Advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • - Ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines.
  • - Provide coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitor care delivery.
  • - Identify service needs and assist other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits, and providing follow-up and feedback to staff.
  • - Participate in program development and operational planning and represent the department on committees or programs.
  • - Make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.
  • - Carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate in your program or service area as assigned.
