Requirements

  • - A professional demeanor along a strong sense of prioritization, attention to detail and great communication skills
  • - Excellent typing, spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills
  • - MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and other computer programming knowledge
  • - Previous sales experience in Children's trade publishing is preferred
  • - A love of children's books is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Share marketing materials, author blurbs, and reviews with the Fiction Foreign Rights Manager and team
  • Help gather materials and copy for the Bologna and Frankfurt leaflets and enter copy into our bibliographic system
  • Work with Design to make sure images for the leaflets are in Biblio in a timely fashion
  • Assist with any requests from the Foreign Rights team in London
  • Act as support for a Candlewick-based Global Fiction Rights Sales team
  • Mail materials and samples as needed
  • Finalize seasonal copy, for both print and e-books, in Biblio as well as in the system of our distributor, Penguin Random House (PRH)
  • Work with IT to upload excerpts for our fiction titles to PRH
  • Assign theme and tags to our titles to help optimize search for our Sales and Marketing teams
  • Use the weekly change report to update our titles in PRH's system
  • Set up series in PRH's system and work with Editorial on series copy
  • Conduct a regular audit of our cover images in PRH's system as well as on candlewick.com for our print and e-books and work with IT to fill the gaps
  • Update copy with award information and update bios because of changes
  • Share a seasonal grid with Contracts and Rights for an Insight check and update the dates in PRH's system once files are distributed
  • Edit and update our titles on Goodreads as needed
  • Help with data projects related to our ONIX feeds in coordination with our Senior Manager, Group Information Systems
  • Send Happy Publication Day emails to our authors and illustrators
  • Receive author and illustrator biographies; submitting them to CE; and then uploading them to Biblio
  • Receive signed web disclaimers from authors and illustrators; sharing them with Contracts & Rights; and maintaining the database
  • Solicit galley and promotional materials quantities from Sales and Marketing teams
  • Conduct research as needed
  • Perform other tasks as needed
