Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree.
  • Three plus (3+) years’ experience in an office setting (preferably at a law firm or an insurance company on the claims handling front).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe, but also able to learn other systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written (numeracy and literacy) and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, well organized and used to taking the initiative to learn new skills and gain experiential knowledge.
  • Experience working with databases and litigation software.
  • Sufficient experience with office administration.
  • Knowledge of New York construction litigation and/or insurance a plus.
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation administration and claims handling a plus.
  • Spanish language fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Writing drafts of legal letters and correspondence.
  • Organizing and filing documents.
  • Legal and procedural research, as necessary.
  • Front line incident response, investigation, coordination and follow up.
  • Claims intake administration, entailing communication with contractors and subcontractors about job site incidents.
  • Claims handling; acquiring information as necessary to obtain and verify information.
  • Manage meeting and event logistics including booking and preparing rooms, creating materials, organizing catering and taking notes.
  • Report on claims, expenses, costs.
  • Data analysis and entry on claims, expenses, costs.
