What is the role of a Safety Attendant at Novant Health?
The Safety Attendant provides one-on-one observation of selected patients to identify potentially hazardous behaviors to self or others, in accordance with facility policies and procedures. They report needs and concerns to licensed nurses and are part of a market-based, corporate float pool team assigned to various units during their shift to ensure patient care needs are met.
What are the educational requirements for the Safety Attendant position?
A High School Diploma or GED is required for the Safety Attendant position.
Is any prior experience necessary for this role?
While previous hospital experience is preferred, it is not strictly required for the Safety Attendant position.
What specific certifications must Safety Attendants obtain, and within what time frame?
Safety Attendants must complete De-Escalation Techniques, Life Support Responder training, and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) Training within 90 days of employment and the completion of De-Escalation Training.
What additional skills are required for this position?
Candidates must be able to complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing, have knowledge of infection control and patient safety guidelines, work with all age groups, and possess basic computer skills for documentation.
