Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the joint re-procurement of maternity information systems across Kent and Medway including:
  • Ensure that there is an overarching aligned programme plan reflecting each trust’s local timeline for procurement and implementation.
  • Provide leadership to the local implementation teams who will be employed in each trust during different phases of the programme.
  • Ensure that the jointly procured system will meet clinical and technical needs identified across the system in a cost-effective way, and release staff time in all providers to address workforce and productivity challenges which impact on care.
  • Ensure that the programme approach and the product procurement and implementation aligns with wider digital infrastructure and future digital ambitions across the healthcare system and within each provider trust.
  • Support provider trusts with resolving local challenges that may impact on implementation and effectiveness of the new system, particularly where a whole system approach can be taken across Kent and Medway – for example community connectivity.
  • Ensure data and metrics recording and reporting capability of the new MIS is deployed in a way that enables consistent comparable data collection across Kent and Medway to support ICB oversight of the quality and safety of services.
  • Build strong working relationships with the ICB digital team and regional and national NHS digital teams to incorporate learning from other multi-trust digital re-procurement programmes.
