What types of examinations will I be performing as a Radiographer in this position?
You will undertake a variety of plain film, dental, fluoroscopy, mobile, and theatre examinations.
What kind of experience can I expect to gain in the Radiology department?
You will gain experience in a wide range of imaging procedures including trauma, MSK, paediatrics, and oncology.
What equipment will I be working with?
The department is equipped with a Siemens DR room, a Phillips DR room, two Phillips DR mobiles, two GE image intensifiers, and a new GE fluoroscopy suite set to open in September 2024.

What professional responsibilities will I have in this role?
You will be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your professional and clinical work, including adjusting techniques based on patient needs and providing written comments on x-ray appearances.
How will I support patients who have difficulties understanding or communicating?
You are expected to ensure that all patients understand the examination they are having and gain valid informed consent, including for those with communication challenges.
How is patient information managed?
You will input data accurately into the Radiology Information System and ensure that information on the hospital system is correct and amended as required.
Where are the main hospitals and community services located?
The main hospitals are Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, with additional community services provided across various locations including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
